Although the intense feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has subsided, fresh details keep emerging. Problem recently shared details of a chat he had with another rapper from Compton following the release of the Toronto artist’s “Family Matters.”

The rapper joined The Bootleg Kev Podcast last week and is now known by his government identity, Jason Martin. He discussed his and K. Dot’s original thoughts on the seven-minute track by 6 God. “I’m going to give you some true wisdom. You’re the first to hear this,” he said. After Drake released “Family Matters,” I texted Kendrick and said, “This ain’t it.” It’s time to tread on his head, man. Say less, he was like.

The A Compton Story rapper stepped away from his phone and came back to see that Lamar had already released “Meet The Grahams,” less than an hour after Drizzy’s fiery diss track. “I said, ‘Wait, wait, wait!’” Problem recalled. “I text him like, ‘Ni**a, you already [dropped the song?!].’ He’s like, ‘I’ve been waiting for this ni**a to drop something.’ [Drake] didn’t even know what he was going to get. Man, Drake shot a video and all this sh*t. Sometimes you just gotta know what to do and what not to do.”

Problem had high praise for Kendrick Lamar’s performance in the battle with Drake, but had long been aware of his talent after seeing him finish a song in 20 minutes in a 2010 studio session. “I’ve been in the studio with all of the greatest people,” he said. “I’ve never seen nothing like that, ever […] He’s the G.O.A.T.”

The Pulitzer Prize winner elevated his claim to G.O.A.T status with his performance in this rap beef. It began with his verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That” at the end of March. The “Rich Baby Daddy” artist responded the following month with “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle,” the latter of which was taken down from social media after he was handed a cease and desist.

Lamar followed up weeks later with “Euphoria” and, days later, “6:16 In LA.” The Degrassi actor fired back the same day and came out with “Family Matters,” only to be drowned out by the sinister “Meet The Grahams.” Finally, on an early Saturday evening, the PgLang artist dropped “Not Like Us” which was viewed as the knockout blow in the feud and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Drake attempted to salvage a victory with the narrative-spinning “The Heart Part 6,” but, according to the music community, the damage had already been done.

Drake has returned to concentrating his artistic endeavors on ladies after stepping down from the feud. He collaborated with Snowd4y on the “Hey There Delilah” remix called “Wah Gwan Delilah” and Sexyy Red on “U My Everything” last month.

Along with that, he said that there would be “summer vibes” coming soon, maybe beginning with his two features on Camila Cabello’s next album C, XOXO. He will collaborate with the Latin pop sensation on the song “Hot Uptown” and have a solo single called “Uuugly” on the album.
