Jennifer Lawrence Created the Perfect Lazy-Day Look by Combining Two Contentious Footwear Trends

Summer is the best time to experiment with your shoe game, considering that the return of winter inevitably also means the return of sensible closed-toe shoes dominating our wardrobes again. Jennifer Lawrence is making good on this, having spent much of the warmer-weather season championing the kind of footwear that might make the average fashion layperson raise their eyebrows. In particular, I’m talking about the actor’s affection for two new shoe trends.

One trend technically isn’t new so much as it is recycled. Jelly sandals have come back with a vengeance this summer, with the PVC-designed shoes encasing the feet of street-style starlets like Blackpink’s Lisa and Taylor Swift. Lawrence, especially, has been one of the jelly sandals’ most ardent champions, with the Oscar winner regularly relying on a red pair of netted jelly flats from the Row.

The other trend is the latest manifestation of the sheer craze: see -through flats. The fad has earned a stamp of approval from the likes of Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Kendall Jenner. Now, Lawrence has lent her own endorsement.

The No Hard Feelings Star recently popped up in New York City in a pair of transparent Melissa jelly fisherman sandals. The shoes were a seamless addition to the rest of her outfit, which appeared – like so many of her other street – style looks – as if it had been effortlessly thrown together by quickly pulling from a chic heap of clothes in her closet.

This included a bright yellow Bode button-down, with delicate blue and white beads stitched into a floral design across the collar and breast pocket, plus baggy white pants and a raffia tote bag from Loewe. For one last final IYKYK touch, she wore geometric black shades with olive-tinted lenses, a Phoebe Philo accessory.
