Harry Connick Jr. is seeking $12.5 million for his retreat located on the coast of New England.

A glance and a smile won’t be enough to win this Massachusetts mansion! The Wall Street Journal was the first to disclose that award-winning singer, pianist, and actor Harry Connick Jr.’s 1.3-acre beachfront property in Chatham, a Lower Cape Cod enclave, is up for sale. The asking price is $12.5 million. Paul Grover and Matthew de Groot of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Robert Paul Properties are the owners of the listing.

According to documents, the tenor from New Orleans and his spouse, Jill Goodacre, a former Victoria’s Secret model, spent $5.3 million for the Oyster Pond Lane house at the beginning of 2006. Hidden behind towering hedges and a long driveway lined with trees, this quaint wood-shingled building has a little over 5,300 square feet of two-story living space with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, all highlighted with original pine floors, reclaimed wood, and multiple fireplaces.

The couple’s blufftop home, which was built in the 1960s but underwent substantial renovations during their time there, has a view of Chatham Village and Oyster Pond, a saltwater basin that feeds into Nantucket Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. Along with a connected two-car garage, there is a stairway and an elevated walkway that descend to a boathouse and private dock.

Highlights also include a family room with built-in bookcases on either side of a wood-burning fireplace, and an entry hallway with a traditional staircase. Top-notch stainless appliances, an eat-in island, a built-in buffet, and a dining room with two sets of French doors opening to the backyard characterize a gourmet kitchen.

The main suite upstairs, accessible through a private staircase, features a walk-in closet, a luxurious bathroom with double vanities, a soaking tub, and a glass-enclosed shower, as well as a study where Connick composed his music. Outside, the park-like grounds have a freeform swimming pool encircled by a patio covered in brickwork, well-manicured plants, and mature trees. There is also a fire pit.

Connick and Goodacre, whose children are now adults, are reportedly spending less time on the Cape, so they have made the decision to sell the completely furnished property, according to WSJ.
