Joe Rogan backs Conor McGregor to become movie star like The Rock following record-breaking Road House success

Joe Rogan believes Conor McGregor could become a movie star – even though he has never seen the Irishman act.

The former dual-weight UFC champion has received critical acclaim for his performance as hired mercenary Knox in a remake of the 1989 classic Road House.

Last week, it was announced that McGregor’s movie debut had attracted 50 million people to Amazon Prime making it the most-watched movie in the streaming platform’s history.

Rogan appears to be one of the few people who hasn’t seen the new Road House, but he still thinks ‘Notorious’ has what it takes to be a big film star like The Rock.

The UFC commentator was recently chatting with former fighters Din Thomas and Matt Serra when the latter asked Rogan if he had seen McGregor’s first flick.

He replied: “I did not see Road House, is it good?”

Serra admitted he enjoyed the movie but added that he thought the praise McGregor is receiving for his acting is over the top because he’s essentially portraying an exaggerated version of himself.

Rogan interjected: “He could play himself in a bunch of movies.

“I bet Guy Ritchie is on speed dial with him right now.

“Listen, Conor McGregor could be a movie star, easy.

“If The Rock can do it, you don’t think Conor McGregor can do it?

“100 per cent he can do it, and he’s a f***ing character. I will definitely watch it.”

McGregor broke a record held by The Rock to become the highest-paid first-time actor ever, but it seems highly unlikely that he will pursue a full-time career in film like the WWE icon.

The 35-year-old is currently gearing up for a comeback fight against Michael Chandler after spending almost three years on the sidelines due to an injury.

It seems he is fixated on fighting despite his recent acting success.

“I have had no conversations with no one,” McGregor insisted when the topic of future acting gigs was brought up during a recent interview with talkSPORT MMA.

“I know there’s probably talks going on but I’m not privy to it and I don’t want to hear it. For me, it’s no, there’s no more movies from me.”
