In a press conference before the F1 race in Azerbaijan, Lewis Hamilton answered the question of whether he wanted to own the new Ferrari F80: “I don’t have any more cars. I’ve given them all up. Now I’m more interested in art.”

In an interview with CNN Style, Lewis Hamilton revealed that he is particularly fond of contemporary art and wants to collect some works to display in his apartment. The 7-time world champion said he is attracted to works that have depth, evoke emotions and thoughts in the viewer. Lewis Hamilton also affirmed: Lewis Hamilton loves paintings, especially paintings with depth.

A vegetarian and a strong advocate of environmental issues, the 40-year-old said in 2019 he had begun selling part of his collection and switching to hybrid or electric cars, after selling his private jet.

The seven-time world champion previously owned 15 limited edition Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren supercars worth an estimated £13 million, kept in private garages in Monaco and Los Angeles.

Lewis Hamilton still has a special affection for the legendary Ferrari F40. He added: “If I were to buy one, it would be the F40. But for me, it’s more of a work of art.”

Earlier this year, Lewis Hamilton was photographed with the F40 in front of Enzo Ferrari’s house in Maranello. Off the track, he is often seen riding large displacement motorcycles such as the Ducati Panigale V4 S, especially in Monaco and Italy.

Lewis Hamilton also revealed his future plans: “One of the things I really want to do is design a Ferrari. I want to create an F44, based on the F40 platform, with a manual transmission. That will be a project I pursue in the next few years.”

Lewis Hamilton, in his first season with Ferrari, admitted that winning is “far away” after finishing 6th, 7th and 8th in previous races. However, he was determined in Baku: “I really want to bring home a race win for the team. Charles has had five already. I feel optimistic going into this weekend, hopefully this will be the start of a change.”
